The Magic of Contrast: Concrete Finish in a Log Cabin
The contrast between wood and concrete may seem bold at first glance. Massive beams, the natural grain of logs and a rustic atmosphere are traditionally associated with stone or ceramic tiles. A concrete finish, however, enters such an environment in a different way – as a calm, neutral surface that allows the beauty of the wood grain to stand out while also meeting the demands of modern living.
When a Modern Surface Meets a Traditional Structure
Log cabins have a very specific charm, which is why the choice of additional materials can be a sensitive matter.
A concrete finish does not feel like a foreign element in such a space. On the contrary, it can serve as a neutral base that visually unifies the interior while allowing the dominant wood to remain the main feature. The key lies in choosing the right tone and texture. The surface does not have to feel cold or industrial. A well-selected shade naturally complements the surrounding materials and creates a balanced contrast.

Betonepox® as the Foundation of the Bathroom and Kitchen
In this project, Betonepox® Classic epoxy finish was used, suitable for both floors and walls. It was applied mainly in the bathroom and kitchen – areas where higher humidity and easy maintenance are especially important.
The finish was applied on the bathroom floor, inside the shower area, on the wall behind the sink and as the kitchen flooring. This created a continuous, seamless surface without interruptions in the material, giving the interior a calm and cohesive appearance. The absence of joints eliminates places where dirt could accumulate.

A Dialogue of Materials: the Warmth of Wood and the Calm of Concrete
Within the context of a log cabin, the concrete structure of Betonepox® acts as a stable foundation. It does not overpower the expressive grain of the wooden walls or the ceiling beams.
Architecturally, it is a play of contrasts – textured versus compact, traditional versus modern, warm versus neutral.

Grey Is Not Just One Shade
Colour plays an important role in interior design. Betonepox® is not limited to a single shade of grey – it can be warmer or cooler, for example with a subtle beige undertone. The surface can therefore feel softer and calmer, or more technical and expressive, without losing the character of concrete. Working with these nuances allows the colour palette to harmonise with the other materials used in the space and highlight the overall atmosphere.
Modern Comfort Without Losing Rustic Character
A concrete finish in a timber structure is not a compromise between style and practicality. It allows the rustic foundation of the interior to remain while introducing a seamless surface, easy maintenance and long-lasting durability.
The combination of solid wood and a concrete finish creates a space that respects traditional building principles while meeting contemporary expectations for comfort and functionality.
